I find it fascinating how sunglasses are the quintessential cultural shorthand for coolness, aloofness, I'm-better-than-you-ness. Of course, if you add sparkles or other embellishments to a pair of shades, you reach a new level and automatically become supreme. What amazes me is how many of us actually believe it's true. I'm going to put sparkly shades on everything now.
