onward we go
A new website, a new beginning. I've spent the last few weeks moving my blog and my shop to here - using Squarespace. I've still got about a hundred details to deal with, but it's good enough for now.
I consolidated the two websites (blog & shop) into one to save money, but also for a fresh start. I wanted to be able to try new things, refresh the look of my site easily, display my work in new ways, put everything under one roof, and I can do all that with Squarespace.
The above image was part of a small series of paintings I did and stapled to telephone poles around the neighbourhood and photographed. Then I lost my nerve and ripped them all down and left the pile of jpegs in a folder and forgot about them. I don't know why I lost my nerve. But I think I was getting stuck, creatively, and wanted to try something new, and then doubts kicked in, and I pulled the plug. Has this ever happened to you?
So I'm hoping that this new site plays a small role in helping me to not just try new things, but to share them a little more fearlessly. Like when you move into a new house: all the rooms are different, and you start changing your old habits almost effortlessly like eating breakfast in the living room instead of the kitchen because the light is nice in there, or make the bed face the window instead of the door, or be bold and paint the bathroom blue just because you've never had a blue bathroom before, and it changes your life just a tiny bit.
A new website is not going to change everything, but it feels pretty good.
