Hooray for today
I've been experimenting with acrylics and paint pens lately, trying some new approaches to tackle my imagery. I ended up making a series of 10 pieces, which I shared last night through my shop newsletter, and they sold out overnight. Yikes!

I wanted a rougher, more textured approach. I had all of these nice 8 x 10 inch pieces of really thick cardboard lying around that were from the packages of watercolour paper that I use -- I had been saving them for a project like this. I primed them with house paint, but wanted to leave some of the cardboard showing so I left the edges bare. I also used artist acrylic paint and oil-based paint pens to do all the line work.
I've been a long time fan of Inuit art, folk art and outsider art, and I feel like some of those influences had a chance to come out and play in this series.
I'll definitely be making more pieces like this, maybe bigger in size too.
